I am an inveterate planner who would like to take more time to contemplate, a Project Mom and a busy professor too. I have been a mother for a little over 16 years, and it’s been the ride of my life. Writing helps me savor, better understand, and sometimes vent my frustrations about this maternal life.
In addition to the three darling people who used to be my babies, but are growing up fast, I live with my grown-up sweetie on 2 ½ acres, and we juggle my career as a professor and his emerging one (after years as a stay-at-home dad) as an R.N. in training. We also enjoy whenever possible our far-flung network of friends and family, our mutual love of progressive politics, and those things that make us remember that we’re still individuals in spite of all our responsibilities. Running, cooking, reading, writing and hanging out with my friends are my favorite non-familial outlets.
I love to hear about the journeys of other parents whose hearts are mostly wrapped up in loving their kids, but who love to think, create, do, and contemplate the big picture.
Jodi,
I’ve added you to my blog roll. I like the way you think and that you value parenting! I also like that you are creative. Bravo to the stay at home dad!
I am a teacher (not professor) too. What do you teach?
